"HANDS-OFF" INSPIRATIONAL MASSAGE TRAINING
LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR FOREARMS & SAVE YOUR HANDS

"Hands Off" massage is all about using your body weight and forearms instead of your hands and your muscular strength! But it's also about being passionate and joyful in the wonderful work we do!

Recent testimonials:

"Your Workshop, Sue, was fabulous because of your enthusiasm and energy. I haven't laughed so much in ages. It's not often you can learn and laugh at the same time! Thanks so much." Claire Brimble, The Isbourne Holistic Centre, Cheltenham October 2010.

"It was great timing to learn some fantastic techniques from 'Hands Off Sue'. I had a thumb injury (from gardening) and it made me realise that I could still work with a poorly thumb. I learnt some particularly powerful use of the forearms to work on the typical 'tension carrying areas' - some that look quite 'out there' to the onlooker! We got the opportunity to feel the benefit of these 'Hands Off' methods before having a go ourselves; making mistakes and getting alll important feedback from fellow students. E.g. Work nearer the elbow rather than the wrist, etc. When receiving it was sometimes difficult to guess what part of the therapists' body they were using! ie was it their foot or their knee, etc ! "

"I loved all the new moves so much that I booked in for a '2nd day refresher workshop' a few weeks later, giving me the confidence to develop them into a treatment. When I return to the UK I hope to learn some more techniquies with Sue as we ran over both days. "

" In both groups we had a real laugh and the atmosphere was light. Thanks, fellow Aquarian, Sue!"     Phil Bird, working in Gran Canaria Winter 2010.

*BY POPULAR DEMAND - Sue is running a 'Hands off' workshop in Bromsgrove early 2011. (Pauline Hulston, FHT Bromsgrove has list of names, just one place remaining 8/11/10 so contact Sue to book asap)

SUE'S  BESPOKE 'HANDS OFF'  TRAINING IS UNIQUE :

"I wish I'd trained with Sue years ago - she has transformed the way I work,  I enjoy massaging now and I never get tired. Thanks Sue! (Sara - Stourbridge 2009)

If you feel exhausted at the end of the day, your wrist aches, your back aches and you're starting to feel any repetitive strain AT ALL- then this training is an absolute must for you. 'Hands Free' working is THE future of Massage!

Sue worked as a Sports Massage Therapist for many years before she developed a way of working which applies 'the principle of least effort' to gain the best possible effects!  Since practising this way of working Sue has more than doubled her clients. This training is powerful & dynamic - you will learn how to apply strong pressure in a most gentle and subtle way.  * If you view the 'Testimonials' from previous students below, you will see just how valueable and effective this training is. *

'Hands Off' is Advanced Massage Training for experienced Massage Practitioners. Sue has developed this over many years, after seeking out the 'Massage Masters' and training in specialised & advanced massage techniques.

'Hands Off' is about using your body weight instead of your strength, using your forearms instead of your hands and using slow, graceful movements to deliver a massage which is POWERFUL & UNIQUE.  'Hands Off' is like no other training as Sue draws on her vast therapy knowledge & years of experience to deliver something which is a blend of the best & most advanced massage knowledge & training available. 'Hands Off' also incorporates deep breathing techniques to deliver massage in a 'Tai Chi' like style.

Sue is well respected for being a real 'hands on' teacher yet recognises the need to keep practising and learning from each and every client;

"I'd like to thank my clients - as they've taught me to listen to the body, and to develop my work in this way. Without your support in booking in with me each month I would'nt have been able to develop this powerful but gentle style of bodywork. I promise I'll continue to listen and learn from you, for I am the student who is commited to life long learning and my own healing journey. That's because I believe, the healer also needs to heal herself....... & the healing never ends."

Sue's powerful but gentle approach has made her a popular & sought after teacher & therapist.  However, Sue believes there is no right or wrong way to use these techniques and allows everyone to develop their own unique style, at their own pace. She is a 'hands on' therapist, teacher and real 'people person'. The skills she loves to share are dynamic and practical but she also offers additional support and one-to-one tuition to all those who attend her workshops AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU.  This is to ensure you get real value for money and all the encouragement & support that you need.

The soft forearm is a fantastic tool to use in place of the hand but to learn the technique it's crucial that you are taught how to stand correctly and use your lower body weight.  Correct (deep abdominal) breathing and  looking after yourself as a Massage Practitioner is also very important in order to put these moves into practice.

HANDS OR NO HANDS?  *Some practitioners decide to continue using their hands (but with the added protection Sue teaches) while others decide to abandon their hands in favour of forearm/body weight techniques. It's about blending the best knowledge and making it uniquely yours!

*PLEASE NOTE: - THESE 'HANDS OFF'  WORKSHOPS ARE POPULAR AND DEMAND LED.  SUE HAS HAD NO PROBLEM FILLING SPACES. SO EARLY BOOKING IS ADVISED*

It's a method I'll be using lots and it's great to have some new tools to use, can't wait to use them on my clients. Look - a massage with no hands!! Whatever next! TESTIMONIALS FROM 'HANDS OFF' LEVEL 1. WORKSHOP IN STOURBRIDGE - JUNE 2010

"I've had a great, informative day. I've learnt a less strenuous way of delivering a deep massage and the new moves will fit well into my routine." Collette.

"I've learnt how to incorporate a quality 'Hands Off' massage and gained a great understanding of new massage techniques which I will definitely use. I've also learnt how to move differently to gain a better flow to a massage and to add strength to my massage....I'd really like to do more workshops with Sue."  Angela.

"I've learnt better posture and how to conserve my energy...plus lots of good moves that will vary my massage. I feel that I will now be more centred and in tune with my client. I also learnt brilliant new moves on the scapula and how to release knots on the shoulder without using my hands. All this is great as I'm going to work on a cruise ship so it's going to be really important for me to use techniques to save my energy and hands!"  Sue

"I've learnt a different style of massage and ways to work that can ease the strain when working all day in my salon...and something which will stay with me is the alternative way of setting up the massage couch." Sharon.

TESTIMONIALS FROM STAFF TRAINING DAY AT KIDDERMINSTER COLLEGE 'HOLISTICS & BEAUTY' SCHOOL IN FEBRUARY 2010

"I've found techniques to aid my 'achy' wrists & I've gained knowledge about different techniques - I loved the Foot Squashes, the Arm Sandwich & the Abdomen Massage - we loved it all - thanks Sue!" Pam.L.amb - Head of Holistic Therapy & Sports Massage Training, Kidderminster College.

"I've discovered how powerful massage can be without expending too much energy. I was worried about my RSI but it felt natural and didn't hurt a bit. Lower body strength is vital but makes a lot of sense. This training for me was ideal as it was so practical - I've learnt how to use body weight, use my forearms and wrist 'hooks' instead of my thumbs! A wonderful day - thank you." Rachel.H.B.

"I enjoyed the session as I've learnt how powerful forearm massage is and 'Pelvic Rocks' WOW! I've also learnt new stretches and pulls to save your hands, etc. and I'll use the pelvic rock, the glutes, back release techniques and the 'Arm Sandwich"  Jackie.B.

"I've learnt new & interesting & relaxing massage techniques and a whole new way to interact with clients.. it's a different way to provide a treatment without exhausting myself. I've also learnt how to massage whilst kneeling and compressions through clothing." Charlotte.H.

"I enjoyed all of the traijing - very useful. I've learnt how to use my body weight for power and new stretches plus body rocks and foot squashes." Anneka. B.

TESTIMONIALS FROM THE JANUARY 2010 - ADVANCED LEVEL II WORKSHOP IN WORCESTER

"I've learnt a lot about my posture, using my body weight and using dynamic massage techniques with intuition. I hope to make my massage more intuitive and tailor made to the clients needs, using the skills I have learnt today. I really enjoyed learning the extra techniques to work the scapula area while preparing for the arm sandwich. I also loved the arm routine, as I have never been happy with the routine I was previously taught. It was a brilliant day. Thank you - I can't think of anything that would make it better - I had a really fabulous day - Thank you."   Alex.P.

"The whole day was enjoyable & informative and with the knowledge that follow up support is available. I found Sue to be very warm and welcoming, with a relaxed approach, and to be very encouraging & supportive throughout. Thanks Sue, I look forward to attending more courses with you in the future." Liz. C.

"Thank you for your 'Advanced Hands Off Workshop' last Sunday. It was really good to learn some more techniques and also the seated massage moves. The day has inspired me and I would really like to do a Refresher Session -  thank you for your offer of follow-up support" Pat.B.

"Many thanks for the workshop yesterday. I really enjoyed it - apart from falling asleep on the couch and missing your demonstration at the end. Maybe next time it would be an idea to rouse the clients on the couches!"  Jayne.B.

"What I learnt is that Sue's 'Hands Off' approach can provide a much deeper/more efective massage, whilst being far less draining for me and also that it's possible to give a wonderful face massage using the forearms! As for the 'Arm Sandwich' - I think it provides a fantastic treat for the arms! The forearm foot squashes feel lovely and the forearm leg effleurage is able to provide a much deeper massage which easily incorporates the glutes in the natural flow without it seeming 'intrusive' (as clients are often not keen to have this area massaged even though it greatly benefits). Thanks again. Liz.

"I've had a refresher of moves I'd forgotten from the 1 st Workshop, I've learnt the importance of stance and how to give more to a back massage by including the arms.  The things I'll use after today are the additional moves to the 'Arm Sandwich', the stretches of the legs and feet and the new facial moves.  I think the Advanced Workshop worked better this time with a slightly smaller group. " Kathy.S.

(FEEDBACK FROM SUE: *There was a group of EIGHT on the Advanced Workshop JAN 2010, but at the level 1 Workshop last November there were 12 in the group (with two trainers) so in future I shall aim to have a maximum group of eight as I agree, smaller groups work better, thanks.*

FEEDBACK RECEIVED THREE MONTHS AFTER INITIAL TRAINING:

"Thank you - the new movements you taught me have been a real godsend on my shoulder and my clients have loved it!" Amanda.

Feedback from November 2009 Level I Workshop:

"I really enjoyed the training. It was very well done. I've learnt to use my forearm with much more confidence & to know how it actually feels. Many thanks. Very Inspiring!" Jennifer K.

"The training was great - the day flowed really well and I've learnt about posture, how to use body weight and conserve energy and the possibilities of using different body parts other than hands" Alex P.

"I've learnt how Massage can be effortless, how 'Hands Off' techniques can prevent RSI and how I can work a lot closer to the client..I had a fabulous day and now feel totally relaxed and inspired. Thank you for a great day. Hannah L.

"I've learnt how Massage doesn't have to be a strain on the body - I've learnt an 'arm sandwich', also how to use my foot to rock the hips. I've also discovered how you can enjoy relaxation during the giving of massage." Jayne B.

"I've found a more comfortable posture to massage and how to tune in to the client and get closer...also how to use less effort to do my massage. I will use my thumbs/fingers less and use my forearms in a more flowing massage, working from my lower body more." Pat B.

"I've learnt to slow down, flow and use my lower body and legs more - it was good to have two teachers, both with loads of experience. Thank you very much." Melanie H.

"The training was great, lots of refreshments and having two tutors who are passionate about 'Hands Off' massage. Thank you." Amanda.

"I've learnt about using & finding the soft part of my forearm, how I can integrate this into my own massage and how I can work deeply, yet be easy on my body. I look forward to using the hip rocking techniques, top of shoulder movement and general back flowing movements." Fran D.
